1. The water temperature is too hot.
Solution: Lower the water temperature. 65-75°C is the perfect water temperature for mate tea, even in a French press . The hotter the water, the more bitter substances are extracted, and therefore the stronger your mate tea will be.
2. Too much mate for x amount of water.
Solution: Reduce the amount of yerba mate. We recommend approximately 1 tablespoon (6g) per 250ml of water. Experiment to find your perfect ratio.
3. Left to soak for too long.
Solution: Steep the mate in the French press for a shorter time. We recommend 1-2 minutes. The longer the mate steeps, the stronger it becomes.
